I own a 1973 C & C 30. It came with a stay sail which I have never used. My question is, would it be any faster to use a stay sail at certain points of sail? We typically just use a mainsail, jib and spinnaker. We race quite frequently, and I just wondered if it's something i should fool around with. The actual stay sail looks pretty old and grungy but usable, and I have noticed them being used on the large Volvo Ocean 70's. Is there any advantage to me using one on my boat?
