... sorry dude, I was thinking in three dimensions where the force that would have caused a kink in an extrusion as you described it, is still torque.
For example, the force applied to a lever multiplied by its distance from the lever's fulcrum is torque.
Hence my comment above regarding Profurl's Torque Links transmitting "All Torque Loads" equally...
I remember being told many times to re-enforce a few different types of furling systems with long lengths of 1 x 2's taped to the joints before removing and installing them to avoid damage to the extrusions.
